Our History
The Shorewood Girls Softball League was founded in 1995 as a grassroots organization run by parent volunteers. Bill Soderstrom, a Shorewood resident with a daughter, believed girls would benefit from their own softball league in the village. The league was started with donations from the Shorewood Foundation, Shorewood Men’s Clue and private funding. The first year fielded one hundred girls. Bonnie Adams continued Bill’s vision, successfully running the league for 14 years.
SGSL, Inc. has expanded to include girls in 3rd grade through 8th grade. In 2011, a parent volunteer board was formed to continue the league.
The Shorewood Girls Softball League is a fun, social and recreational program that emphasizes player development. We promote teamwork, teach skills, build self-esteem and perseverance through a positive athletic activity. Countless parent volunteers contribute to the success of the Shorewood Girls Softball League, including the coaches and the Board of Directors. We welcome girls from in and around the Shorewood community who want to play fast pitch softball.
