League Rules
Our softball rules are based on the Amaturer Softball Association of America (ASA) rules, with slight modifications for our league. We have two age divisions with separate rules for each.
The Board of Directors takes feedback from parents, players and coaches each year regarding
the rules. We’ve continued to modify and clarify the rules each season.
Policies
Inclement Weather Policy
SGSL makes every attempt to safely play softball games with changing weather conditions. SGSL will not play softball in severe weather that includes lightning and thunder, however, we can play at times in light rain. The decision to play includes monitoring weather conditions, considering safety and field conditions which can change quickly prior to game time. SGSL will make every attempt to email parents timely if games are cancelled. Otherwise, decisions will be made as needed by umpires and the Shorewood Recreation Department. The league will notify parents and coaches of make-up games as needed.
Injury Policy
No injured player will be allowed to return to play without a medical release signed by their doctor. Injured players may attend practices and games but stay only in the dugout.

All medical policies and forms are located on our external registration site for download as needed.
Refund Policy
No Refunds after registration. Contact league directly for exceptions that include moving or an injury or illness that prevents play prior to the first game.
